What snow storm? This week the exceptional hair styling and makeup skills of the Beauty Bar will be featured on two television shows, a wedding trend feature on NBC WVIT Channel 30 in Hartford and on a special segment of TLC that will include Jessica Watcke of Bliss Bridal in Cheshire. We’ve worked with Bliss Bridal on several occasions and are thrilled to have been called on again to beauty up the gals for their show focusing on wedding planning. Our bridal makeup is known throughout New England and the Tri-State area and now we get the chance to show local and national viewers what trends will be seen on brides this year.

On Wednesday, February 13th our makeup specialists will be at the NBC-30 WVIT studio in Hartford for a special segment on new wedding trends. Hair and makeup are crucial to a bride’s wedding day look and we’ll be showing off some of our most creative work to give brides-to-be great ideas for the upcoming weddings.

Then on Valentine’s Day Jessica Watcke from Bliss Bridal in Cheshire will be featured on TLC for a show about new look bridal gowns for 2013. Jessica’s hair and makeup will be done by the Beauty Bar staff and we are proud to say this is the 4th time Bliss Bridal has asked us to prepare them for their TV time. Tips for Your Wedding Day Hairstyle

When the big day finally comes around you’re going to have a lot on your mind and making sure your hair looks fabulous is just one of many details to keep track of. Every bride makes a fuss over hair on her wedding day and it’s important to keep it looking great throughout the all-day event so you look your best for every photo opportunity. The Beauty Bar offers several easy to remember tips for keeping your hair perfect on your wedding day.

Plan in Advance – Along with the gown and makeup you don’t want to be changing hairstyles at the last minute. The sooner you know what style you want the easier it will be for a stylist to get the look you want and to have everything else match. When you plan in advance you can ensure that all your wedding accessories match and flow so nothing is out of place.

Get to know your stylist – If you are trying someone new for your bridal hair make sure to make some time to sit down and discuss the style you want and how you want to appear. If you wait until the day of the wedding you may be unhappy with the way things turn out and find that a little miscommunication can cause a major meltdown. When you meet with a stylist well in advance you can smooth over any rough spots and hear other suggestions that may make for a better hairstyle.

Prep your hair – It should go without saying but take good care of your hair in the weeks leading up to the wedding. Spending too much time in the sun, overdoing color and trying a variety of styles will only weaken your hair and make it that much harder to work with on your wedding day. Play it safe and smart and be conservative with your hair several weeks prior to the big day so your stylist has an easier job of giving you the look you want.

Go with what you know – Don’t pick your wedding day to try a new shampoo, conditioner or hair spray. This is the absolute worst time to find out you are allergic to a particular hair product or that the results are lacking. Stick with products you have used before and know that works. Also, don’t switch up your hairstyle at the last minute on a whim. Trust in the decision you and your stylist have come to and don’t let wedding day jitters force you into making a mistake you’ll regret.

In addition to reserving the time and space for your on-site beauty service so you are guaranteed a spot booking in advance will also allow time for us to consult with you on the services and styles you want so we can come fully prepared to do on-location beauty services including haircuts, airbrush makeup and spray tanning.

We do get the occasional cancellation and can accommodate some last-minute requests but those are rare.
